"Honestly, I think it all started growing up at my grandparent's house," J. Daniel said, "I used to go and play my grandparent's piano, or at least I thought I could, turns out now looking back that it was really just noise, but that's when my love for music really began I would imagine. When I was 12 I got my first guitar, an old Lauren Latin Guitar, and I just enjoyed learning how to play and getting the pieces together."
It all started for J. Daniel really when he got his first "Real" Acoustic guitar, an Epiphone PR-100, that he still uses on stage to this very day.
"I remember thinking I was just going to get like some off market guitar, which would've been fine, but my mom surprised me with an Epiphone, which was what I loved, because guys like Third Day and Audio Adrenaline were using them."
Then, J. Daniel got the break he wanted.
"I Remember being asked by the youth leaders in our youth group to put together a worship band to lead worship on Wednesday nights. It was something I wanted to do, with all my heart, was honestly to worship God in a raw atmosphere, something I've tried to carry on today."
J. Daniel tries to bring a worshipful, yet raw atmosphere to his music, something he gives credit to a few bands and friends for.
"I remember hearing guys I grew up admiring, like Jason Moore play, and he was just so raw. Then I got into bands like Third Day, Caedmon's Call, MercyMe, Waterdeep and David Crowder, and it was just something I wanted to do."
J. Daniel still continues to bring this raw atmosphere to his music. He still sees little flaws in his music though.
"I really don't like my voice," J. Daniel says with a laugh, "I always thought I sounded like I was either trying too hard or not quite hard enough. I just hope that when people hear me, and my music they will be able to look past me, and see the raw love I have for Jesus Christ and how I want to share his blessings that he's given me in my life. If I can do this anyone can."
